Twitter Optimization Series Part 2: The 10 Most Common Reasons I Have to Un-Follow YouCategory: All news | |

Last week we have covered the top 10 reasons why I won’t follow you on Twitter in the first place in case I, @onreact_com, don’t know you.
I’m very open minded though so I also follow people I have never heard of before I find interesting in any way. Sometimes I have to un-follow you though, it happens, not a lot but it does. It’s really bad when it does as mostly people really eager to reach others lose in this early stage.
In Part 2 of our Twitter optimization series I will talk about the 10 most common reasons I have to un-follow you.
As the feedback to our part 1 was tremendous in the comments, this time I asked my Twitter followers beforehand so some of the reasons are not (only) my own but contributed by the respective tweeple.
#3 sounds hard to accomplish for the average marketer. Also I personally do often promote my links on Twitter and asked Wiep about that. He mentioned the signal to noise ratio which sums it up perfectly. 10 links in one week might be too much by themselves by if their wrapped in true blue conversation they might get accepted in spite of the numbers.
#5 - I don’t agree 100% with this as you can’t measure it just by the sheer number, the info overflow caused by too many messages can be reached earlier or later.
#10 is not really as bad as the others but in case you post more than 5 @replies to the same person, it gets annyoing.
Next time, in part 3 of the Twitter optimization series I will end the “follow” trilogy with a post called the 10 best incentives for others to follow up on your Tweet where I will explain the cases. This post will deal with conversion on Twitter. How to convert tweeple to social media submitters/voters, retweeters and contributors.
